As part of Queensland Rail’s North Coast Line Capacity Improvement Project, three ageing timber bridges in the Berajondo locality were replaced to improve the efficiency and safety of the regional rail network.
Arcos Group partnered with DT Infrastructure to deliver temporary works designs for working platforms capable of supporting a range of heavy plant and equipment. The project presented several geotechnical and operational challenges, including floodplain conditions and the remote location of the bridge sites.
To address material supply constraints, Arcos Group assessed and provided geotechnical parameters for a locally sourced, lower-quality material as an alternative platform fill. This solution achieved cost savings of approximately 40–55% while maintaining safety and performance standards.
Arcos also provided ongoing construction support, coordinating with multiple construction crews.
