The PDP2 Contaminated Soil Remediation (CSR) project forms the first stage of BHP’s broader Port Debottlenecking Program, which aims to increase the throughput capacity of the Port Hedland operations to 330 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

Delivered within the highly constrained Nelson Point Port precinct, the project involved the excavation and safe removal of contaminated soils to enable future infrastructure upgrades. A key component of the works was the design and construction of a temporary heavy-duty haul road to facilitate the efficient and safe transport of material between excavation and stockpiling areas, all within a live port and rail environment.

Arcos delivered full civil engineering services for the project, including road geometry, earthworks, drainage, sewer design, and safety provisions. The team also supported Enviropacific throughout construction by providing timely design clarifications and onsite engineering support, ensuring all works met BHP’s stringent standards.
