Arcos provided specialist geotechnical engineering services for the development of a fuel station at BP Riverside. The site presented significant geotechnical challenges, with more than 20 metres of very soft, compressible soils requiring careful consideration in the design and construction phases. In addition to ground investigation and design services, Arcos also undertook forensic analysis following a sheet pile collapse on the site, providing clear insights into causation and remedial options by collaborating with our structural team.

Our Role: Arcos delivered a comprehensive package of geotechnical services, including detailed subsurface investigations, laboratory testing, settlement and stability analysis, and tailored foundation design. Our team developed practical, risk-informed solutions to manage the highly compressible soils, ensuring long-term performance of the facility under heavy vehicular and structural loads. Through close collaboration with the design and construction teams, and by providing forensic expertise when unexpected failures occurred, Arcos helped secure buildable and compliant outcomes while maintaining project continuity.
